Proc smashes Club 3000m Season's Best
Gregorz Proc, now affectionately known as Prozac by his teammates following his quick scamper around the track 7 and 1/2 times, smashed the club season's best time in the 3000m challenge (by 1 second). Although not enough to beat Ethiopia Finlay's time from 08/09 it must surely signal that the year old club record is under threat. The season's third fastest time was set by new boy Matt Bailey. The blistering pace on Monday was credited to club 'pacemaker' Mark Chamberlain who set off for two and a half laps at 1min 30 pace per lap. For full details of the 3000m challenge and leading times, please see below...
Over the course of the season, Gold Hill is running a 3000m challenge during training. 'Every so often' the first 30 minutes of training will be used for a 3000 m challenge. Times will be recorded and ranked. Everyone is invited to set themselves a target time that they want to achieve by the end of season. Current best times are listed below. For reference, last year Dave 'Ethiopia Finlay won the First Team 3000m challenge with a time of 11 min 48 seconds. The world record for the 3000 m (an event not often run) is 7 min and 20 seconds by Daniel Komen of Kenya. World record anyone?
